VISION
Those who graduate from the physics department at Gour Mahavidyalaya, as well as general students, are expected to be successful in a diverse variety of professional pathways and to be able to adapt their talents to jobs that have not yet been developed. This is the vision of the department. We also envision that our emphasis on student-centred learning and student-faculty research, when combined with a variety of traditional, contemporary, and integrative pedagogical techniques that are informed by ongoing education research, will result in the creation of a model for physics education that is recognised on a national level in both the public and professional circles.
Mission
We are committed to achieving our goal of teaching and learning physics within a community that is built on collaboration and performance. We seek to give the tools and skills necessary for improving our knowledge of the universe and for giving solutions to the difficulties that we confront as individuals, groups, and civilizations. We encourage observation and analysis of the natural world, and we seek to supply these tools and skills.
The values
As we work to better our community, we make it a priority to uphold the following principles.
In spite of the fact that our mission statement does a good job of conveying an idea of what our department does, it might be made more understandable to a wider audience by incorporating a description of the term "performance-based": Students are required to put their newly acquired skills and information into practice during each and every class meeting as part of the performance-based teaching and learning approach. Through the use of active performance in physics, students are compelled to practise their newly acquired skills in a setting that allows them to engage with both their teachers and their classmates. This makes the learning process more effective. This kind of instruction improves upon the conventional, lecture-based method of instruction that students are exposed to when learning about physics. In a classroom that is based on performance, students study physics by continually engaging in physics activities.
