How do we curate the field of literature in
selecting certain texts as literary in contrast
to what we might then provisionally call
‘un-literary’ or not-quite literary’? What
happens when we include pamphlets and
manifestos as texts in the syllabus of
literature? In what way does that recalibrate
the prevalent understanding of ‘literary’ in
literature?
This seminar shall explore these questions as
it promises to bring in a slew of manifestos
and pamphlets by literary figures to make
sense of the horizon of literature anew.
