About Us

The Department of Education laid its foundation in the year 1985 with the capacity of 28 students. The Department initially took immense care in catering its service to the weaker section within the District as well as the students from other Districts. At the initial level in 1985, the subject Education was offered as a General course and later during 1995 the course broadened its program to Honours course. The Department initially was under the supervision of the University of North Bengal and later from 2009 onwards the Department came under Gour Banga University. The Department follows and updates the syllabus as prescribed by the University.

The Department is located on the ground floor of Arts Building, adjacent to Rabindra Bharati Distance Education Department. The classes are conducted in two rooms as room no. 110 and room no. 228. At present there is a computer, printer and scanner facilities within the department.  There is a Departmental library in the Department Teachers’ Room and for the use of better variation of books the students are made to frequently visit the college library.
