Welcome to the Department of Bengali

The Department of Bengali started it’s journey with the college in 1985 and the present HoD Dr. Susmita Shome(nee.Karmakar)was first appointed as a full-time faculty member.Thus the department itself is an inseparable part of history of the college.The department has a legacy of intellectual contribution towards the learners of this locality over decades.T he department had organised several UGC Sponsored State and National Level Seminars,Workshops in Drama and Poetry,Students Seminars etc.Moreover,the department had signed a Faculty Exchange Programme with Serampore College,Hoogly.Presently the department is endowed with one seniormost Associate Professor,two Assistant Professors and a Guest Lecturer.As Malda is a land of folkloristic diversity,the department is preparing to set up a Folklore Museum.In addition to that,in collaboration with Malda Little Magazine Forum,a Little Magazine Archive is going to be introduced to preserve and display the instances of marginalized literature of greater North Bengal.
