The stated mission of Gour Mahavidyalaya, Malda is to:

Our Vision

Gour Mahavidyalaya is an institution committed to nurturing young minds and equip them with adequate resources to achieve success.  The college upholds the values of social justice, diversity and inclusiveness that the great thinkers from India like Rabindranath Tagore, M. K. Gandhi, Kshitimohan Sen, Sukumar Sen, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, among other eminent personalities, emphasized. The college works tirelessly towards sensitizing students to become ‘creative individuals’. These ‘creative individuals’ can understand the power of knowledge and strive to use knowledge for creating innovative opportunities. As it is stated in NEP, 2020, education has to be outcome oriented, and courses are to be up-to-date in sync with the emerging fields of studies and job opportunities. Gour College provides a slew of new courses like Mass Communication and Journalsim, Physical Education, Food and Nutrition, BVOC in Health Care and plans to start more such programs in near future to the meet the goals that NEP, 2020 has outlined. The whole process of learning and dissemination of knowledge in this college has been made participatory and harmonizing to the changing demands and condition of our society. Professionalism with humanism is at the very center of this institution’s vision for future. In following B. R. Ambedkar’s ideas of ‘social democracy’, the college has decentralized its functioning by empowering different committees to act according to their priorities for the betterment of this institution. Our vision is to offer a healthy and engaged ambience to teachers, non-teaching staffs, students and all stakeholders to give adequate space to whatever talents we have to flourish and contribute to the overall development. Gour Mahavidyalaya continues to pursue this vision even in the online mode of classes. The institution is quite aware of what the future may bring in higher education, such as hybrid education, use of AI, new curricula and so on, and prepares to make the best of such possible scenarios.
